Types of Hajj: Tamattu, Qiran and Ifrad
There are three types of Hajj. Tamattu: Umrah first, leave ihram, then a new ihram for Hajj on the 8th; a sacrifice is due. Qiran: Umrah and Hajj in one continuous ihram; a sacrifice is due. Ifrad: Hajj only, no sacrifice required. Pilgrims from Bangladesh, who arrive weeks early, almost always perform Tamattu.
